Social Media Campaign and Statement. This year the Korematsu Institute was pleased to take part in the #CranesForOurFuture campaign that coincides with the grim anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima (August 6, 1945) and Nagasaki (August 9, 1945). The crane represents peace, hope, and long life, and the campaign encourages us all to envision a world without the threat of nuclear weapons.

Social Media Campaign. The Fred T. Korematsu Institute is in the fourth year of a partnership with the Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) and CDC working to spread the word about the power of vaccines to lessen the impacts COVID-19 and disease in AANHPI communities and on daily life.
Social Media Campaign. FIPPP became Berkeley Rep’s first-ever company-in-residence, as part of their initiative to place their theatre-making capacity in service of local communities and smaller, growing organizations. This new residency follows a collaboration between FIPPP, BRSOT, the SF Jails, and the San Francisco Sherriff’s Department to provide a Transformational Arts Program in SF County Jails. The first fundraising campaign took place during Giving Tuesday 2023 to help expand their reach around the Bay Area and beyond to collaborate, educate, and share these powerful stories about being incarcerated.
Nonprofit Statement. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdown in 2020, there was a rise of xenophobia, hate speech, and violence against members of Asian communities across the country. In tandem with the #STOPASIANHATE Movement, a Virtual Day of Action and Healing was called to speak out against the violence and show solidarity with the Asian community. March 26 was chosen in honor of the Naturalization Act which was signed into law on that date in 1790.

Nonprofit Statement. Over 40 years after the racially motivated murder of Vincent Chin in Detroit sparked the modern Asian American civil rights movement, KI asks what it means to be an American. Are some of us more American than others because of the languages we speak among family, the traditions practiced in our homes, or the origins of our grandparents? No. Of course not.

Book Foreword. Show Me the Way to Go Home is a stunning and heartbreaking "immersive, visual journey through the incarceration camps that held 125,000 Japanese Americans during World War 2". The book foreword brings together the history of discrimination, heartbreak, and loss of life after Executive Order 9066 sent American citizens to camps far from home without due process simply for looking like the enemy.

Social Media Campaign. The Fred T. Korematsu Institute's mission is to advance racial equity, social justice, and human rights for all through education, civic participation, and advocacy. To increase civic participation and engagement, KI works to educate on social responsibility, how to be engaged, and take part at the ballot box.
Social Media Campaign & Event Promotion. FIPPP was back on stage in May 2024 for five nights with twelve powerful stories from FIPPP performers. For each series of performances, FIPPP pairs the solo storytelling of the evening with their popular post-show Ask Me Anything panels covering topics like health care behind bars, youth, and the SF Jails collaboration with Berkeley Rep. This evening finished with a panel of performers who shared stories of their incarceration during their youth and members of Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice (CURYJ), discussing the impact and lessons learned from young incarcerated people.
